Advice is good, but it doesn’t always apply to your situation, or you don’t want to use the advice because your end goal is not what others see.

One time, a mother couldn’t believe another mother of a1st grader allowed her daughter to wear tap shoes to school.
The little girls mother explained that she was fully aware the child would be in trouble, but the little girl didn’t believe it, so the mother let her find out for herself.
Funny thing, the little girl didn’t get into trouble. The teacher just told her not to wear them again, figuring the mother didn’t notice and knew the girl wasn’t a defiant child. But it muddled the mother’s plan. Lol!
Point being, sometimes we don’t follow the rules for an end purpose and sometimes we let rules slide for a purpose.
